OCTATCO Implements Zero Trust Biometric Authentication System at SBI Savings Bank

• Deployment of a FIDO2 multi-factor authentication (MFA) with device-based biometric processing

OCTATCO, a leading provider of FIDO (Fast Identity Online) authentication technology, announced on the 21st that it has implemented a biometric authentication system at SBI Savings Bank to strengthen internal controls.

This initiative was launched in response to the internal control improvement guidelines issued by the Financial Supervisory Service and the Korea Federation of Savings Banks, and to prepare for the transition to Zero Trust security.

Using the FIDO2 standard, OCTATCO deployed a phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) system at SBI Savings Bank. The solution includes mobile biometrics and fingerprint security keys for secondary authentication. Notably, the system enhances security by storing biometric data directly on the device—either a mobile phone or security key—rather than on a central server.

The OCTATCO MFA system is built as a platform, supporting WebAuthn API for seamless integration with a variety of enterprise environments including single sign-on (SSO), virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and virtual private networks (VPN).

SBI Savings Bank plans to continue expanding its authentication system this year to further enhance its Zero Trust security framework.
