Install EzFinger1 Driver: Auto Install
AutoInstall for Windows 10 and later (64bit, EXE file)

1. You can download the EXE file available above and refer to the following instructions to install the driver. This will only work with Windows 10 and later versions.

2. If you have an existing driver installed, you must delete it before proceeding:

- Search for “Device Manager” in the search bar.

- Locate the Octatco EzFinger Security Key device under the “Biometric Devices” tab, right-click it, and select “Uninstall device”.

3. Run the EXE file previously downloaded, follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated driver, and restart your computer.

Install EzFinger1 Driver: Manual Install

If the EzFinger1 driver isn't installed automatically, you can select your computer OS, download the corresponding driver below, and refer to the following guide.

The example below was recorded on a Windows 11 computer, but the steps to install the driver are the same across older Windows OS versions (7, 8, 8.1, 10), with only the window design and the driver file to download varying.

1. Open Device Manager from the Windows search box.

2. Under "Other Devices", right-click on the EzFinger1 item and select "Update driver". It can be called differently than on the screenshot below such as "BIOLOG DEVICE Fingerprint Sensor".

3. Click "Browse my computer for driver software".

4. Click “Browse”, locate the driver folder you downloaded from our website, and click "Next" (select the 64-bit folder).

5. After completing the installation, restart your computer. The EzFinger1 device should now be visible as "Biolog Device Fingerprint" under "Biometric Devices".

Enable fingerprint login on Windows 8

To log in without a password using EzFinger1, you need to activate the Biometric Framework in Windows, install the EzFinger1 driver, and then register your fingerprint. Here are the detailed instructions:

1. Type "Run" in the Windows search box and open it. In the Run dialog box, type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter. This will open the Local Group Policy Editor window.

2. In the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components and select "Biometrics".

3. In the right pane, you'll see a list of settings related to biometrics. Right-click each setting and select "Edit". Enable each setting by selecting "Enabled", and then clicking "OK". Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.

4. In the Run dialog box, type "control" and click “OK” to open the Control Panel.

5. In the Control Panel window, select "Hardware and Sound".

6. Under the "Biometric Device" section, click "Use fingerprint in Windows".

7. Click "Register new fingerprint" and follow the prompts to register your fingerprint. During the registration process, slightly move your finger around several times to improve the accuracy of the fingerprint registration.

8. When the registration process is complete, close the window. If you want to add another fingerprint, click "Register another fingerprint".

Enable fingerprint login on Windows 8.1

To log in without a password using EzFinger1, you need to activate the Biometric Framework in Windows, install the EzFinger1 driver, and then register your fingerprint. Here are the detailed instructions:

1. Type "Run" in the Windows search box and open it. In the Run dialog box, type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter. This will open the Local Group Policy Editor window.

2. In the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components and select "Biometrics".

3. In the right pane, you'll see a list of settings related to biometrics. Right-click each setting and select "Edit". Enable each setting by selecting "Enabled", and then clicking "OK". Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.

4. Click the Windows Start button, locate the Settings icon (gear icon), and click on it.

5. In the “PC settings” window, select “Accounts”.

6. Select “Sign-in options” and under the “Fingerprint” option click “Add”.

7. Enter your account password in the popup window asking you to do so.

8. Follow the prompts to register your fingerprint. During the registration process, slightly move your finger around several times to improve the accuracy of the fingerprint registration.

9. When the registration process is complete, click “Finish” to exit.

10. If you want to add another fingerprint, click “Add another”. If you want to remove previously registered fingerprints, click “Remove”.

Windows Hello and Security Key Fingerprint Registration

Once you have installed the EzFinger1 driver, you can easily register your fingerprint in Windows Hello (from Windows 10) and log in to your laptop without having to enter a password.

1. Search for “Sign-in options” in the search bar.

2. Select “Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello)” to register EzFinger1 within Windows Hello.

3. Or select “Security key” to register EzFinger1 as a FIDO security key.

Enable the file/folder Lock function

EzFinger1’s File/Folder Lock function is available from Windows 10. It limits access to some folders or files and prevents deleting or copying them. Download the File/Folder Lock function file below and refer to the following instructions to install the software.

File/Folder Lock Function for Windows 10 and later

1. Once you've downloaded the File/Folder Lock function file, double-click it to launch the installer. If prompted with a User Account Control dialog, select "Yes" to allow the app to make changes to your device. Next, choose your preferred language and click "OK", "Next", "Install" and "Finish" to complete the installation process.

2. After the installation is complete, double-click the software icon to launch it. If prompted with a User Account Control dialog, select "Yes" to allow the app to make changes to your device.

3. Click “Get Started” to begin the registration process.

- If the EzFinger1 device is not plugged in, you'll see a message saying "No EzFinger Found". In that case, connect the device to your computer.
- If the EzFinger1 driver is not installed, you'll see a message saying "Install Driver". Refer to the previous instructions to help you install the driver.

4. When the Identity verification window appears, place your registered finger on the EzFinger1 sensor. The screen will turn blue to confirm the verification.

5. In case fingerprint recognition fails, you'll need to create a password with a maximum of 20 characters.

6. The blue window below indicates that the registration is successfully completed. You can close it and start using the File/Folder Lock function.

7. To protect a file or folder, right-click on it and select "Protect data with EzFinger". If the app prompts you with a User Account Control dialog, select "Yes" to allow the app to make changes to your device. If you don't see the "Protect data with EzFinger" option, first select "Show more options". The icon of the file will change to a blue lock icon, indicating that it is now locked.

8. To unlock and access the file, double-click it and authenticate yourself with your registered fingerprint.

9. If you fail to authenticate yourself with your fingerprint three times, you can use your previously registered password to unlock the file.
