OCTATCO Selected for Second Consecutive Year in the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Zero Trust Pilot Project

• Participates in Consortium led by EstSecurity; implements at Gabia and Airport Railroad
• Provides FIDO2 Authentication Platform and Fingerprint Security Keys

OCTATCO, a company specialized in FIDO2-based biometric authentication and integrated authentication security solutions, announced on April 21st that it was selected for the second consecutive year to participate in the “2025 Zero Trust Pilot Project,” led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

OCTATCO is part of a consortium led by EstSecurity, alongside SecureLink and SciSec Lab (KAIST). In this project, OCTATCO will deploy its proprietary FIDO2-based Multi-Factor Authentication solution OCTATCO MFA, and its fingerprint security key, EzFinger, to build a trust-based authentication system for users and devices. This system will be deployed in real-world environments in the cloud services of Gabia and the 5G special network infrastructure of Airport Railroad.

Gabia operates a wide range of cloud services including IaaS, SaaS, and DaaS. By strengthening authentication and enhancing security frameworks based on Zero Trust principles, Gabia aims to provide a robust security foundation for both public institutions and private enterprises. Airport Railroad is conducting demonstrations of Zero Trust user access controls and real-time anomaly detection to address security threats targeting its 5G specialized network and railway infrastructure.

OCTATCO’s FIDO2 authentication platform and Fingerprint Security Key are recognized as core technologies that enhance authentication hardening, a key element of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). Based on public key cryptography, FIDO2 eliminates the need for passwords and inherently resists phishing attacks, effectively protecting user accounts from hacking.

This approach removes the need for storing user passwords on servers, drastically reduces risks of credential theft or reuse, and offers significantly stronger security than traditional OTP or SMS methods. Leveraging this technology, OCTATCO also integrates real-time risk-based access control (RBAC) systems through APIs connected to various security platforms.

Jaehyoung Lee, CEO of OCTATCO, stated: “OCTATCO MFA is a highly trusted authentication solution that has already been proven in critical sectors such as defense, finance, and public institutions. Through this project, we aim to advance biometric authentication as a top-tier security measure within Korea’s Zero Trust environment and further establish our technology as a national security standard model.”

The pilot project will be completed by the end of 2025, and will serve as a foundation for spreading the Zero Trust security framework domestically and for standardizing authentication technologies.
