How does Web Authentication work?

The private key remains on the security key or device, while the public key is sent back to the website or application.

The website or application then verifies the public key with the user's account information stored on their servers. If the public key matches the user's account information, the user is granted access to the website or application without the need for a password or additional authentication factors. This process provides a strong and secure form of authentication that is resistant to phishing attacks and password theft.
