[Reporter Yoo Soo-hyun of ENews Today] A product that has improved security dramatically has been released due to the fusion of quantum security technology and biometric authentication technology.
SK Telecom, IDQ, and OctatcO, a biometric venture company, made an announcement on the 15th that they have released ‘EzQuant’, a fingerprint recognition security key that is applied with quantum random number generation technology, for the first time in the world.
With the release of ‘Equant’ this time, areas that are applied to quantum security technologies will be greatly expanded. After supplying quantum cryptography communication network based on QKD (Quantum Key Distributor), it released a smartphone (Galaxy Quantum) that is applied with QRNG (Quantum Random) and added a biometric security key this time.
‘Easyquant’ combines quantum random number generation technology with card-type fingerprint security keys based on FIDO, which can be certified online.
As a result, ‘Easy Quant’ can be linked to PC login, which was previously performed with biometric authentication, and all necessary certifications such as in-house groupware, ERP, and CRM, which will greatly expand the application field. It can also be used to enter and exit offices by utilizing NFC functions within the card key.
In addition, FIDO standard authentication technology, Windows Hello, and NFC functions can be used in all web authentication services that provide FIDO certification services such as MS Office 365, Azure Cloud, Google Gmail, YouTube, Facebook, and Salesforce.
“Easy Quant” is the world’s first product equipped with QRNG at the “Global FIDO Interoperability Test” organized by FIDO Global Alliance in March this year and can be applied to FIDO-based services worldwide.
Accordingly, the biometric security key applied with QRNG technology is expected to expand its use to financial services, defense, online administration, and smart offices in the future.
SK Telecom, IDQ, and OctatcO are planning to enter the U.S. and Singapore markets this year in order to expand security keys of FIDO biometric authentication.
Ha Min-yong, head of SKT Innovation suite, said, “We will work with ADT Caps and OctatcO, the security subsidiaries, to expand global service models that require strong security certification such as finance and defense.”
