G-PRIVACY 2020, the largest privacy and information security conference in the first half of the year, was held on May 28 at the Gayageum Hall in Seoul, The K Hotel.
At the meeting, Lee Jae-hyung, chief strategic technology officer (CIO) at OctatcO, gave a lecture on the theme of “The advent and application of a strong certification era that replaces password.”
He analyzed the security reality of passwords, which are the most commonly used authentication means in Korea as well as in the world, vulnerabilities, users’ usage behavior, and structural causes of weak passwords, and compared the advantages and disadvantages of various authentication solutions on the market.
We’ve looked at some of the new powerful certifications that have recently come into the spotlight and introduced, for example, how and how to use Azar Cloud and Microsoft 365 using Microsoft’s Windows Hello, the most commonly used FIDO2 technology and certification management solutions.
They also had time to look at the future development direction of certification technology and the direction and service of global companies and introduce services and trends related to certification of major advanced governments, including the United States.
In particular, among the contents of the digital identity announced by NIST in 2017, it introduced changes in new certification standards, introduced passwordless certification announced at the World Economic Forum in 2020, and introduced the form of next-generation certification, considerations, and global trends.
On the reason for introducing strong biometric authentication, CIO Lee Jae-hyung stressed, “It is essential to drastically reduce management tasks such as defense from phishing attacks, meeting stricter regulations on privacy laws, resetting passwords, etc., increasing efficiency of work through safe and convenient authentication, and improving productivity by providing convenient consumer UX.”
Finally, we introduced the advantages and application methods of OctatcO’s platform-backed biometric security key ‘Zippinger’ and partners for practical application review.
OctatcO (CEO Yoo Mi-young and Lee Jae-sun) is a company that provides next-generation biometric authentication security keys that replace passwords, and provides the safest and most convenient fingerprint authentication security keys in Azure cloud environment and Microsoft 365 work environment by supporting Microsoft’s next-generation authentication Windows Hello and FIDO Security key.
It is a biometric security key provider that can implement unlimited authentication with a single authentication device by supporting various OS environments such as MS Windows, Android, and Mac, and FIDO2, which are supported on platforms such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
In particular, OctatcO’s “Easyfinger 2” product is in the spotlight in the untact working environment caused by the Corona 19 incident.
In the global B2B/B2G market, Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365 and FIDO2 authentication can be most safely and conveniently certified and neutralizes hacking attacks such as phishing attacks. The world’s first Windows Hello & FIDO2 certified product provides the safest and most convenient way to authenticate PC logins, groupware logins, and Internet web service logins without passwords. It is also a product that can satisfy both security and mandatory procurement at the same time when it is procured by South Korean government.
With the belief that ending the era of weak and uncomfortable passwords and strong user-centered authentication with next-generation biometrics can make digital life safer and more convenient, OctatcO has focused on authentication technology over the past four years.
If last year was the year when Samsung Life Insurance started supplying its fingerprint security key Easyfinger 2 products for internal employees, supplying them to various domestic security companies, exporting them to the U.K., and exporting them to Japan, this year is making it a year to expand strong biometric authentication to government agencies, public agencies, the U.S., and Singapore.
