The second half of the year’s largest information security and privacy conference PASCON 2020 was held at the Gayageum Hall of The K Hotel Seoul on November 10 in compliance with quarantine rules.
At PASCON 2020, OctatcO Lee Jae-hyung gave a lecture on the theme of ‘The Rise and Application of a Strong Certification Age to Replace Passwords’.
Lee Jae-hyung, CTO, analyzed the security reality of passwords, vulnerabilities, usage behavior of users, and structural causes of weak passwords, which account for more than 80% of global data leakage causes, and compared the pros and cons of various authentication solutions on the market.
He briefly introduced changes in the security environment caused by corona, the current status of authentication that requires human authentication skills in certification, and the transition to a password-free world for new digital transmission announced at the World Economic Forum, and explained the core and technological overview of FIDO’s emerging global online authentication technology as a new alternative.
It also introduced the certification methods recommended by NIST in the U.S., the end of the password era, the use restriction recommendations such as OTP, encryption technology, device-based authentication technology, and biometric authentication technology.
